Dan's post got me thinking we haven't updated this in a while
Mine's doing well, packed to the gills with almost 40 boxes, and way too many singles! I think I need one for the other side of the couch....yeah, that's the ticket...END TABLES!

I am a new alumnus, but I already love my Aristocrat! It is already full, as many have told me it would do rather quickly. It seems that it has filled up when I am not looking. End tables, now that's a good idea... How's the CD player Mark? Every last one of those Best Sellers hit the spot, buddy!

Checking in.
My Aristocrat was filled from my 4 CoolerDors immediately. I love it (Note: no attatchments to this message. )
Thinking about a consul table for the entry hall with the equivalent of 3 more Aristocrats. It would look great! The scary thing is that I could then store more cigars than GSnyde, which is WAY too many!

I'm a new member, and I couldn't be happier with mine. Bob does EXCELLENT work. Holding rock-steady at 67% RH.
I have plenty of free space. dms, I have the first Aristocrat "Ultra" console model (it was my original design). Room for 80 boxes PLUS three drawers for loose cigars. Yeee-haaaa! If you can't fit you collection into this behemoth, you have a problem and need counseling. In the interim, send the overflow to me for safekeeping.

I still love mine, but it's full to the brim. I purchased it in Aug. which looks like right before all the Aristocrat +'s came out. I would be in heaven if this thing was about 3x the current size.
When I get the new house I might go for an Aristocrat 3x downstairs and keep the original upstairs.

The only problem I have is now when the UPS driver pulls up I don't know if it is cigars for me or QVC for the wife! This is my first post here. I've been talking to Bob about the Aristocrat Plus and he suggested checking out this thread. My only problem is that the Aristocrat Plus at about 10 cf is smaller than what I hoped for. The Ultra, which is a perfect size, is a little more than I planned to spend. Any suggestions?

$2800 for Ultra w/o inlay. Double door Aristocrat starts at $1900, but I'd opt for two singles instead. I'm starting to feel like the Plus is my best option; I've currently got about 1000 sticks, of every shape and size, in boxes and singles. I'm thinking about storing 400 as singles and the rest in about 30 boxes, leaving me room for another 10+ boxes. Sound right? Any suggestions from you experienced Aristocraters?

I have had mine about a year. So well constructed that even with its size, I can still use the Premier Beads to humidify it. Now I have to wonder how Bob can make such a beautiful and functional cigar box of this size work well, but so many other makers of humidors cannot even get a desktop to remain airtight.

How many churchills might fit in a Plus? I'm figuring about 200 per drawer and 40 boxes with 20/box? Total of 1200 cigars. Because I also have many robusto's, petite corona's and others, I'm hoping that 1200 is a little low. I've got a 6 cf built-in cabinet-dor with active humidification for overflow, it fits about 30 boxes.

brentp, We are finally wittling down the wait time to 3-6 weeks depending on where your order falls in the cycle. I would personally like to get it down to two weeks, but you all keep ordering......life is good.
CigarFish, I think you are low on the box storage for the Plus. The box space available is 7" more than the regular Aristocrat in which most folks get close to 40. It is going to depend on your particular "mix" of sizes.
I do thank all of you for posting your comments, it really is helpfull to get the feedback & gives me ideas for another member to the Aristocrat family.....

Mark, The wicks should be checked about every 3 months or so. Just loosen the 4 screws on the top of the resevoir & lift off the top. If the wick shows signs of mold or bacterial growth. Remove it & rinse the resevoir in a mild disenfectant(a capfull of bleach per gallon of water dilution). Rinse again with distilled water, put in a new wick & your ready to go. If there are no signs that bacteria etc are growing out, ie numerous brown discolorations, visible growth or an "odor", you can leave the current wick in.
The wick you remove, can be rinsed in the bleach solution/distilled water also, allowed to dry out & reused again at a later date if you desire.

Bob, with the increase in humidity in the last week or two, I noticed that when I left the set and forget device in the cabinet the humidity was around 73 or so. Too high for me, so I took it out and unplugged the controller. Everything seems good now at about 67, where I like it. Should I just leave it out until the cold weather returns? I live in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Triple Cap, That is a good point--we recently went through a couple of wet weeks, in Dallas, which hasn't happened in a couple of years & ambient RH was up there. I had not turned on the AC in the shop & ambient was 70% plus. Eventually if the RH is constantly above 70, the cabinet is going to end up at that level also, due to normal opening & closing of the door.
As a general statement, it probably won't happen often, simply because many use heating or AC much of the time, which knocks down RH to the 50's & 60's even during rainy weather. I would guess that very shortly the ambient will drop as an average & you can put the S&F back in.
cheers

I'm lucky enough to live in London (until x-mas)
                      so I'm learning on Cuba's.

My ?? is do you get what you pay for? I have
seen end-table size Humidors from $700-$3000plus
on-line. I'm interested in this one called the
Aristocrat, someone my have heard of it. Looking
for some feedback (good and bad) on this and
maybe others that people have. I'm using a
cooler for temperary fix (seems to be working
ok). But I would like the real thing and would
rather not spend a small fortune and make the
wife MAD. So do I need to spend a few grand to
                      have a real good humidor?

I have one and love it. Hurry and buy one
because I looked the other day and Bob still has

that. The active humidifaction is wonderful!

Subject: What do you really want?

If you want a place to store your stogies you
can use an ice chest with a humidifier and keep
it in the closet. If you want a beautiful piece
of furniture, then spend some money. I built my
own out of a small cabinet. I lined it, made
shelves, inset some glass and I'm super proud of
it. I also discovered that it provides a very
stable environment for my cigars with much less
humidity fluctuation than a small box. I believe
that the cabinet size is the only way to go.

Now, all you need to do is decide what you want
to spend. Site unseen I'd sure love to have one
by Bob Staebell. I love looking at his web site
and enjoy his advice on this web site. If you've

best money I've spent on my habit to date. Takes
all the hassles out of storage. Buy one!!! Don't
know how your pricing is on cigars, but try some
Honduran and Nicaraguan cigars. They've been
putting out some very good cigars lately (Joya

and it has performed flawlessly. The workmanship
is outstanding with beautiful fit and finish.
You won't find anything better at any price.
Must be nice to have Cubans available, but the

that he had custom made for another client. It was more contemporary
in styling than the stock Aristocrat.

To try not to ramble on too much, we ordered a similar model in the
wood we liked. We chose an inlaid top and glass door. When we picked
it up, it was obvious that it was very well made. It is very heavy
and well-constructed. Every corner is perfect, the finish is great
and it is very nice looking. It was easy to setup with Bob's written
instructions, and it keeps perfect humidity. I am sure it will last
at least the rest of my lifetime, and I will never regret purchasing
it. The capacity is also huge. I have around 20 boxes and probably
another 100 singles, and it is not full. This is one humidor that
truly lives up to the maker's claims.

I will leave you with one story that sums up what you can expect from
Bob. We saw a burl desktop model on one of his work tables, and it
was simply gorgeous. It was the best looking burl humidor I have ever
seen. I mentioned to Bob how great I thought it looked, and he told
me that it was progressing pretty well, but needed several more coats
of lacquer. He tried to point out places where the finish wasn't
quite right. I'll tell you that I would have been satisfied right
then and there had I been the client purchasing it, but Bob wasn't.
That pretty much sold me on Bob. He is a perfectionist, and I don't
think he would let a humidor leave his shop without being as close to
perfect as he can make it.

Hope this helps.

I just received my aristocrat from Bob a couple days ago. Mine is the dark
red mahog. It is outstanding in every detail and he promised it in 3 weeks.
It was here in 10 days. It was packaged better than anything I have ever
received. I will never need another.

good luck, doug

I have had an Aristocrat Plus for several months and it is perfect. The
best humidor investment I have ever made. I also have an Arlin Liss which
is a work of art, but the Aristocrat Plus has a huge capacity and is
incredibly consistent. No more fooling around with coolers and beads or
foam. I have it set for 65% and it is always right there. I have not seen
the Avallo, so I cannot comment. Bob Staebell is a real gentleman and a
pleasure to deal with.

I am not familiar with the Avallo, however I do own an Aristocrat (for
about 2 years now) and it is beautiful. Better yet, it is functional. Never
had a problem and the way it is made, I bet I will pass it along to a son
(or daughter). Nothing but positive things to say about the Aristocrat.
